PHILADELPHIA — Three hospitals and two nursing homes are closed due.
The hospitals and nursing homes were set to close Monday as a result of the influenza pandemic, the Department of Public Health announced.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that three of the hospitals in the city of Philadelphia were closing for the winter, citing the lack of winter-like weather conditions.
The other two hospitals were expected to be closed for the summer.
There were no immediate reports of infections.
The city of about 9.5 million people reported nearly 4,600 cases of influenza and nearly 2,700 deaths in January, according to the latest figures.
