Posted October 07, 2018 05:02:33In the wake of a deadly fire at the Beechwoods nursing home in San Antonio, Texas, local officials are asking residents to keep an eye out for new nursing home activities and programs.
The San Antonio Fire Department and local officials have put out a request for proposals to host the event, which is expected to run through the end of the month.
The goal is to get people out to the fire station and onto the roof.
“We want to see people out there, whether they’re in a nursing home or not, out there to see how they can contribute,” said Lt.
Michael D. Miller, a spokesman for the San Antonio fire department.
The event will focus on nursing home care, family reunification and socialization activities, and there will be a community meal.
The community meal will be open to anyone who wants to eat and have fun.
There are already plans to host similar events in other nursing homes, but none have taken off as quickly as Beech Woods, Miller said.
