Cedar Park, Illinois, June 1, 2019 (CNN) — A nursing home for elderly people is closing on Sunday after two residents died, the nursing home announced.
The Cedar Park Nursing Home announced Monday that it had closed its doors to care for the residents who died at the nursing homes on Wednesday and Thursday, citing the “complex and unpredictable” situation.
The Cedar Park Nurses Association said the deaths were linked to a single patient who died of carbon monoxide poisoning at the facility.
The state Department of Health and Human Services said it is investigating the deaths.
Cedar Park is one of the nation’s oldest nursing homes, with more than 2,000 residents.
The Iowa Department of Human Services announced on Monday that Cedar Park has closed.
The nursing home has been operating since 1951.
