— A nursing home resident died Monday at the home where her son was allegedly abused, authorities said.
Authorities say the home is a skilled nursing home where the wife of a longtime resident is accused of sexually abusing the boy, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Officials with the West Palm Beach Police Department and Broward County Sheriff’s office were unable to immediately identify the woman.
A spokeswoman for the West Coast Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization for elderly and disabled people, said the organization has launched an investigation.
“We were shocked and saddened to learn of this tragedy.
We offer our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased, as well as all those impacted by this tragedy,” said Amy Lacy in a statement.
